The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) plays a crucial role in shaping the country’s progress through accurate and timely data collection. Whether you’re applying for a job, registering for government services, or simply understanding how the country is doing economically, PSA is involved in one way or another. But what exactly does the PSA do—and why is it so important?

What is the PSA?

The Philippine Statistics Authority is the central statistical authority of the Philippine government . It was created by Republic Act No. 10625 , also known as the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013 , which merged four major statistical agencies:

  • National Statistics Office (NSO)

  • National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB)

  • Bureau of Agricultural Statistics (BAS)

  • Bureau of Labor and Employment Statistics (BLES)

By combining these agencies, the government aimed to create a more streamlined, unified, and efficient system for collecting and analyzing data.
