Camiguin Island is a volcanic island in the northern part of Mindanao, shaped like a pear. It’s about 90 kilometers north of Cagayan de Oro City. It’s surrounded by the Bohol Sea to the north, Macajalar Bay to the west, Gingoog Bay to the southeast, and Butuan Bay to the east.
Camiguin is one of the provinces in Region 10. It is situated in the Northern Central Part of Northern Mindanao. Its capital city is Mambajao City.
It has a population of 92,808 as of the May 2020 census. It encompasses a land area of 241.44 km2 (93.22 sq mi). It consists of 5 municipalities which include Catarman, Guinsiliban, Mahinog, Mambajao, Sagay.

Camiguin’s History
On June 18, 1942, the Japanese Imperial Army arrived in Camiguin and established their rule in Mambajao. In 1945, Philippine Commonwealth forces came to Camiguin and freed the island in the Battle of Camiguin, defeating the Japanese Imperial forces as World War II came to an end.
Camiguin was a part of Misamis Oriental from 1946 to 1958. In 1958, it became a sub-province. Then, in 1968, it gained full-fledged province status, with Mambajao as its provincial capital.
